David is often hired to consult with filmmakers during the editing process.
David has been asked to consult on features and short films, at various stages, from early development to approaching a final cut. No stranger to navigating the slings and arrows of feedback in the edit, he seeks to consult in a constructive way and remind filmmakers of what is working in their film, while sharing creative ideas and suggestions on how they can make their storytelling more compelling.
David has also mentored film students, up and coming editors and filmmakers in various capacities at universities and on mentorship programmes like Jumpcut and Screencraft Works international cross-border programme. Growing up in small-town Fife, Scotland, with no links to film-making, he now hopes to do more to help encourage the next generation of working class voices in the industry.
